Forest & Nature Tram

Our guide will meet you in the Fish House Excursion Lounge to escort you to the tram departure area. You'll discover first-hand the natural wonders of a wild southeast Alaskan rainforest on this 1 1/2 hour tour. Departing from Icy Strait Point, you and your local guide will ride a covered, wheeled tram approximately two miles through an old growth rainforest and along the shoreline where Chichagof Island meets the bountiful waters of Icy Straits. Your guides will describe the ecological and cultural significance of the forest's unique plants and animals and how the island's Native Tlingit people are bound to its rich landscape. At the beachfront turn-around, you'll have an option to explore the rocky beach on foot within view of an established bald eagle nest. Note: We recommend you bring a raincoat.

The city of Vancouver, in the Canadian province of British Columbia, is a shining light in the Northwest and has been consistently ranked as one of the most livable cities in the world! Join this tour and discover why it was chosen to host the 2010 Winter Olympics. Departing the cruise pier you'll head into the heart of downtown, a bustling urban environment surrounded by water and mountains.


This tour will take you into the second largest Chinatown in North America, through the renovated and popular Gastown District and into Stanley Park, where the locals come to relax and play. Stanley Park is larger in size than New York City's Central Park, and is home to old growth trees and a spectacular display of First Nation Totem Poles. You'll have an opportunity to explore some of Stanley Park and take photos of the Mountain Range rising just outside of the city. Keep your eyes peeled for game sites of the 2010 Olympics. This tour will end at the Vancouver International Airport.

This tour provides an outstanding overview of the state's capital city and its scenic attractions, including one of the world's only drive-to glaciers, the Mendenhall. Your guided tour takes you through Juneau's picturesque downtown. Visit the Mendenhall Glacier, a moving river of ice with rugged crevasses and a distinctive blue color. Stroll the walkways to the Visitor Center and take in one of the glaciology exhibits, an interpretive talk with a Forest Service Ranger, or simply enjoy the panoramic view of the glacier. Afterward, you'llo visit Juneau's Macaulay Salmon Hatchery and Visitor Center. Note: This tour operates under a special use permit issued by the U.S. Forest Service. Dress in layers, as temperatures at Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Area tend to fluctuate.

Your tour begins with a drive along the Embarcadero toward Downtown San Francisco. Continue on Market Street with a photo stop at Twin Peaks and then it's off to Golden Gate Park and the DeYoung Museum and Gardens. A brief stop will be made near Cliff House on the Pacific coast, before continuing past the Palace of the Legion of Honor and along the coastal road to the Golden Gate Bridge. Through lively stories and narrative you'll learn about the culture and lifestyle practiced by the Northwest Coastal Natives. You'll also have an opportunity to visit a traditional Native clan house to see how they lived first hand. Prior to departing the park, you'll have a chance to photograph a magnificent collection of totem poles in a picturesque setting. During your brief stop at the quaint Alaska Totem Trading store you'll have an opportunity to shop and admire beautifully carved totems along with a collection of vintage automobiles and guns. While travelling back to the pier, enjoy an entertaining city tour and learn of the industries which built Ketchikan and helped to make it the "Salmon Capital of the World". This eco-exploration includes a guided nature hike, Alaskan reindeer, a Native totem carver, raptor center and a historic sawmill at an exclusive reserve located in the forested mountains at rustic Herring Cove. This pristine natural environment is home to bald eagles, black bear, seals and a variety of birds and other species attracted by the major salmon runs in the abundant marine estuary. A naturalist will guide you along a trail through the heart of the dense forest, among tall stands of hemlock, spruce and Alaska cedar, stopping at strategically located viewing areas. At a protected, open estuary, you'll follow Eagle Creek along an elevated wooden boardwalk overlooking grassy wetlands. Major runs of salmon return to spawn here. Listen to the symphony of bird activity in this spectacular setting. Seasonal ecosystem changes result in varying levels of wildlife activity. After a mile trail walk you'll have a chance to feed reindeer, see the historic Herring Bay Lumber Company sawmill, visit birds of prey up-close at the Alaska Wildlife Foundation's Raptor Center, and observe a master Native totem pole carver at work. Craigdarroch Castle & Victoria Highlights

Departing Ogden Point, your driver/guide will point out Mile Zero, the western end of the Trans Canada Highway, Beacon Hill Park and Thunderbird Park en route to Craigdarroch Castle an outstanding landmark home standing most affluent in a city steeped in heritage. Craigdarroch was built between 1887–1890 by Robert Dunsmuir and boasts a unique collection of residential stained and leaded glass, period furnishing, and excellent wood paneling and carving. Enjoy your self-guided visit in the castle with docents available to answer any questions you may have. After your visit, rejoin your driver/guide returning via Chinatown and welcomed by the Gates of Harmonious Interest. Continue to the inner harbor framed by some of Canada's most recognizable landmarks, the majestic Parliament Buildings aglow in 3,333 light bulbs and the ivy-covered Empress Hotel. At the inner harbor and shopping district you'll be given some free time to take in the local sights and sounds prior to your return journey to the pier and your ship. Note: Must have good mobility and be able to negotiate a gradual uphill walk to the castle and 87 steps to view all four floors of the castle. Referred to as a 'castle', the building is more a stately mansion with castellated features. Your visit of this unique neighbourhood stately home is self-guided with docents available to answer any questions you may have. Order of sights may vary.
